When a singer truly feels and experiences what the music is all about, the words will automatically ring out.--Cabelle
For some odd reason or another in this generation and probably past generations I must include, someone or somebody has this perception that if you scream, holler or yell, you are a better singer. WRONG! Belting is different, it's a style of singing that uses an adjustment producing heavy tones through the vocal range. Yelling, Screaming and Hollering, slams the vocal cords together, too often and over time this will result in frequent series of hoarseness and vocal abuse. Over time it will could result in permanent damage which is not irreversible.

I'm sure you meant reversible, last word, second to the last paragraph.
ReplyDeleteSlamming the vocal cords together has a name, glottal shock. Good to know these terms, helps with checking references, etc. Keep up the good work!
